A warm December afternoon:
~Lettuce from my garden (just picked) soaking in Potassium Permanganate water to kill bugs/viruses/bacteria that cause yucky tummy problems
~my small bottle of the purple granules of P.P. In two years, you can see how little is used each soak!
~rice in a tray...tossed up in the air to remove some things, others are picked out, most of the rest (little bugs) float to the top of the water I rinse the rice in before cooking. Any tiny bugs are dead, because I put my rice in the deep freeze for a few days after I buy it!
~tomatoes from my garden, drying after their soak
~Apple muffins fresh out of the oven
~A mug of freshly made coffee (to go with the warm muffins!)
~Pitcher of drinking water that has gone through our water filter, ready to rinse the lettuce after it's first spin.
I read on the internet of temps in the west these days, and try to remember what that is like.
Our rainy season was about 2 months longer than usual (which we loved here), but it seems it has passed so the typical hot January is upon us.
My home-made mango chutney on freshly caught Tilapia (then cooked!) was a nice treat tonight for dinner!
